2014 Intel Science Talent Search - Semifinalist!
Post date: Jan 12, 2014 9:55:9 PM
On the 8th of January, I received some exciting news: I had been selected to be an Intel Science Talent Search Semifinalist! The Intel Science Talent search is often regarded to be the most prestigious science competition for high school seniors in the nation, and each year, 300 semifinalists are chosen amongst potential candidates. I was one of 8 semifinalists picked from Texas. I feel truly honored to be recognized amongst these talented students! Near the end of January, 40 finalists will be chosen, who will then be flown to Washington D.C to compete for top prizes and even meet the president! For being a semifinalist, I received a $1,000 award, and my school received a $1,000 award as well, to be used in math and science education. More on the Intel Science Talent Search and this year's semifinalists can be found here: https://student.societyforscience.org/intel-sts-2014-semifinalists
I am really grateful for this award, and it serves to bolster my work in research to ultimately contribute to society, and help benefit others.
In other updates, my recent visit to MST elementary was published to the Official EPA Science Blog website! I was surprised to see the article catch a lot of attention - it was re-posted to several other websites, including the US Department of Education, the Dallas Morning News, and the Society for Science and the Public Blog! And finally, it's my birthday today - I am now 18 years old! Time sure does fly. As always, I look forward to this new year full of hope. And just like the Terminator, I am ready to take on what's before me with unyielding determination!
